TRAFFIC RULES

SECURITY DEPARTMENT NOTES

In accordance with Montgomery County and Maryland State vehicle laws, the following traffic regulations are enforced by the Montgomery County Police and Leisure World Security.

  1. Obey Posted Speed Limits
  2. Come To A Complete Stop At All Stop Signs
  3. Yield The Right-of-Way To Pedestrians At Street Crossings*
  4. Conform To All Parking Regulations Violations Include, But Are Not Limited To:
    • Fire Lanes
    • No Parking Zones
    • Handicapped Spaces Without A Permit
  5. Violators Are Subject To Fines and towing of illegally parked vehicles at the owner's expense.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

By law, in the state of Maryland pedestrians have the right-of-way in both marked and unmarked crosswalks. Vehicles must come to a full stop, and remain so until the pedestrian has cleared the crosswalk.

WATCH THAT SPEED LIMIT

SPEEDING DRIVERS within the community is one of the most common complaints received by the Security Office. As a reminder, the speed limit on Leisure World Boulevard is 30 MPH. As the Community continues to grow, we must drive even more cautiously. The lives of our friends and neighbors rest with our ability to practice thoughtfulness and courtesy as we operate our vehicles.

LEISURE WORLD BOULEVARD is a one-lane roadway in both directions and no passing is permitted. In many sections of the boulevard, curbside parking is permitted which presents a very dangerous situation to pass a moving vehicle.

ADMINISTRATION PARKING LOT - The traffic lanes are one-way only. Arrows are painted on the roadway indicating traffic flow toward the lower end of the lot. At no time are vehicles allowed to travel towards the Administration Building.

PARKING OF VEHICLES ON TRUST PROPERTY - Residents may park their privately-owned vehicles on Trust roadways and in designated parking areas around Trust buildings provided there are no posted "No Parking" restrictions. Vehicles owned by residents may not be used as a form of advertising. Management reserves the right to use discretion in limiting the size of any vehicle permitted to be parked on Trust properties in an effort to provide a safe environment for the residents of the Community. This will normally apply to any vehicle of a size greater than a standard size passenger vehicle.

GOLF CARTS are to be driven on the right hand side of the road nearest the curb. Operators must obey all traffic rules and regulations. Carts are prohibited from being driven outside the community, which includes the LEISURE WORLD PLAZA! Parking or driving carts on turf areas is prohibited unless designated for golf cart usage. Golf Carts parked in unauthorized areas are subject to towing at the owners expense.
