• Monday through Saturday our Leisure World buses run frequently throughout the community and to Leisure World Plaza!
• On Wednesdays, shuttle bus transportation is available to Aspen Hill and Olney!
• Bus schedules are available at the E&R desk, Security Office, and from our bus drivers!
• Should conditions require a change of bus operations during a given day, that information will be carried on the TV as soon as it is received!
• There are two different internal modes of transportation service available to residents of Leisure World.
• The first is the Shuttle Bus Service. This mode of transportation has a fixed route and schedule to transport residents throughout the community and to Leisure World Plaza Monday through Saturday. Schedules may be obtained at the E&R Office, the Security Office, and from the bus drivers. There is no fee for this service.
• The second is the Supplemental Transportation Service. This service is a two part operation.
  • Part "A" is the regular "dial a ride" for ambulatory ridership. This provides service in Leisure World sedans to destinations within the Leisure World Community, including, by prearrangement, to appointments at the L.W. Medical Center. Fees are charged.
  • Part "B" of the supplemental transportation service provides a special van for the physically challenged residents who are unable to use the Shuttle Bus or "Dial a Ride."

Shuttle Bus - Available for resident use, free of charge, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., shuttle buses run through the community and to Leisure World Plaza. A Wednesday bus travels to Aspen Hill and Olney. Schedules are available from the E&R Office, the Security Office and the drivers.

On Saturday, our shuttle buses also run throughout the community and to Leisure World Plaza. When we are on Eastern Standard Time, the buses run between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. When we are on Daylight Savings Time, they run between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

All schedules are subject to "weather permitting" conditions.

Residents may be required to show L.W. identification cards. Other riders must have a valid L.W. Guest Pass.

Passengers are limited to the number of packages they can safely handle while boarding and disembarking from the shuttle bus. Due to liability and insurance regulations, drivers are prohibited from assisting passengers with their parcels.

Within the community, residents can request transportation by L.W. sedan. For a fee, service is provided to any destination within the community. For hours of operation and fee schedule call or visit the Security Office. Call Main Gate to request pick up for this service. Call Connecticut Ave. Gate to prearrange pickup for Medical Center appointments.

Transportation for the Physically Challenged [Under ADA Guidelines, Mobility Limited By Wheelchair Or Scooter] Note: See separate brochure, Physically Challenged Transportation, for use restrictions and safety regulations.

A van is available for the transport of physically challenged, non ambulatory residents. During normal shuttle bus service hours, transportation in the van will be provided to physically challenged residents at no charge. At other times, a fee will be charged. No transportation to L.W. Plaza is provided during hours when the regular shuttle buses are not in operation.
